Your general practitioner doctor should be and will be your best friend soon after a few months when your child was born. What do you tell him when you take your child to his clinic when he is ill? Often times in our anxiety and confusion to get the child better , we do omit the most relevant details. Here are some pointers and guidelines to go by...
1. Tell the doctor if your child has been treated by another doctor before.
2. Is your child allergic to certain medicines?
3. Is the child taking any medicines now? If so, for what?
4. Ask the doctor to give it in writing the name of the medicine.
5. What will this medicine do? How does react for your child's present complaint?
6. Are there any side effects for the medicine the doctor just gave you? Will there be nausea?
7. How do you give this medicine? How many times?
8. What kind of foods can the child take?
9. Remember to check the bottle's labels carefully. How should you store it?
10. Report to the doctor about any abnormal behavior from your child after he has taken the medicine.
11. Remember to throw away used medicines left overs after your child gets better.
